You steer with A and D, and click to push the pace bar. The bar has three zones: blue walks slow, green walks normal, red walks fast. Sit in the red too long and she stumbles, losing two seconds. Three stumbles and she is out of the race. Four checkpoints make one lap. Three laps take the win.
